A free event detailing the wonderful river cruising experience will be hosted by Acendas Travel, 5:30 p.m., Wednesday, Oct. 17 at the historic Thompson Barn, 11184 Lackman Drive in Lenexa, Kan.
Acendas Travel is celebrating its 35th year of business. Award-winning advisors from Acendas, along with industry experts representing the highly-regarded brands of Ama Waterways, Avalon Waterways, Uniworld Boutique River Cruises and Viking Cruises will be in attendance to share information and offer special values to attendees.

“River cruising is one of the fastest growing travel experiences as a whole and extremely popular with our clients,” Acendas Travel Vice-President Ellie Noyes said. “It brings the best of both worlds to you. You spend time on some of the most iconic waterways in the world, and get to visit the most historic cities as well.”
What to Expect
Attendees will have the opportunity to hear about the various river cruising itineraries, plus be afforded special value offers. Refreshments and appetizers will be served and various raffle prizes will be awarded. Videos, brochures and one-on-one discussions will supplement the presentations.
“If you live in the Kansas City-area and have even the slightest interest in river cruising, I encourage you to attend. It promises to be a fun event.” Noyes said. “We’ll have several of our advisors along with representatives from the river cruise lines available to talk about the options. While most of the itineraries are Europe-based, we are seeing an expansion to other parts of the world such as India, Africa and Southeast Asia.
“In addition, our travel partners are beginning to expand their offerings. You can do river cruises to the wine country and visit vineyards, you can sail on river cruises that offer more active options for that crown, and of course, you always have the option of extending the trip pre or post in a city to enjoy that environment.”
