The Perfect Spring Break Get-Away

One of my most gratifying and enjoyable activities is spending time with friends and family in an environment full of fun and free of – mostly – the devices and concerns that tie up our daily lives.

I believe travel offers one of the best – if not the best – platforms to do that. So, it should come as no surprise that my wife Jackie and I have hosted a spring break cruise for the past 23 years. The week of sun and fun offers the perfect respite for both parents and children.

Hosting a Cruise

When Jackie and I decided to host our first cruise, we had no idea it would be replicated 23 times over. But why not? The family time was enjoyable and sharing the experience with friends was invigorating. Not to mention the awesome experience we had with the wonderful amenities, activities, food and entertainment, whether on the ship or when going ashore.

So, what the heck. Let’s do it again.

We’re excited to share that our 24th spring break cruise will be March 12-19, 2017 in the Western Caribbean on the luxurious Norwegian Getaway. We’ll leave from Miami and visit Honduras, Belize, and Mexico. Included will be a stop at Norwegian’s hottest new private island, Harvest Caye, Belize. The Getaway offers 28 dining options, five water slides as part of an aqua park, a three-level sports complex and Spice H20 – an open air dance club open to everyone. And, for a limited time, Norwegian’s “Free at Sea” promotion is available. It includes free WiFi, unlimited drinks (note age restrictions), $100 in arcade credit and a photo package. (Note: for more information on the cruise, visit http://gospringbreakcruise.com).

When you do something 24 years in a row, you must be doing something right. It has been gratifying to see first time travelers ask us about next year before returning to port. Equally wonderful has been the number of families who have returned for the cruise for multiple years. We have done our best to create exceptional value as prices for the cruise begin at only $550 per person (does not include airfare port charges, government taxes and gratuity).

The website provides details of the trip. However, if you have questions, please contact Acendas travel adviser Molly Bechtold at 913-384-9999, ext. 341. It is important that travelers have a passport that is valid six months following the return date. A deposit of $250 (Haven Suite deposits are higher) is due at time of space reservation. Final payment is due December 16, 2016.

We hope you can join us next March. You never say never, but it is our youngest son’s final high school spring break. If it is our last spring break cruise, you will not want to miss it!
