Travel Partners, a staple in the Sioux Falls business community is changing its name, but the people who have been part of the award-winning travel agency are staying put.
After 20 years operating as Travel Partners, today it takes the name of Acendas Travel. A full service travel agency headquartered in Kansas City since 1982, Acendas Travel acquired Travel Partners, June 25, 2018. In addition to Kansas City and now Sioux Falls, Acendas Travel has locations in Minneapolis and St. Louis.
The former Travel Partners staff of Mary Jo Nelson, Daniella Stich, Kristen Hosek Walker and Tracy Wilbeck (all vacation advisors) remain on board to direct the Sioux Falls operations.
“We have been extremely judicious in our growth, targeting those agencies that fit our culture,” Acendas Travel President Brent Blake said. “Bringing Travel Partners into the fold was a no brainer. Mary Jo Nelson has built a well-oiled machine and we are pleased she and the team will remain on board to serve the Sioux Falls area.”
Prior to Nelson purchasing the agency in 2000, it was known as Jack Rabbit Tour & Travel.
“We’ve put so much into this agency and wanted to ensure that it had the resources to be a thriving part of the business community for many years to come,” Nelson said. “Shortly after we began discussions with Acendas Travel, we knew immediately we found that partner, which would allow that to happen. This is a positive move for us as an agency, but even more so for our clients.”
Due to the Covid-19 pandemic, Acendas Travel will operate in Sioux Falls on a virtual basis for the interim. Travel advisors are meeting by phone, Zoom meeting and by appointment.
